Welcome! Jim and Madeleine Vail started Willow Creek Craftsmen in the spring of 2001 in Clark, Colorado - just north of Steamboat Springs. After 17 years of working for other cabinetmakers, Jim decided the time was right to start his own business. WCC started in the basement of their home. At that time, Jim was subcontracting out to several shops for cabinet installations. He supplemented that with his own custom woodworking. When the homebuilding market continued to boom in 2006, the Vails decided it was time to build a new shop on the property. Madeleine moved into a beautiful quilting studio with treetop views and Jim set up his business in a new workshop on the ground level. Since then, his custom woodworking business has expanded to kitchens and baths, cabinets and countertops, closets and furniture. Jim says, "I am thrilled to be able to live in Northwest Colorado and to create beautiful work from natural resources. I am enjoying my new shop and the ability to expand. When we built Madeleine's quilting studio (Hummingbird Quilt Designs), we came up with new ideas for sewing machine and cutting tables, lightboxes and storage, and we're so pleased with the results, we've decided to market this furniture to quilters and crafters everywhere! What can we build for you?"
